JENNY STRUGNELL

BIO
I'm fascinated by the capabilities of great communications. In the expansive realm of 'Comms,' I see a vast and diverse world, where the essence lies in translation. It's about grasping one perspective and artfully conveying those values, ideas, and purposes to another. Whether through words, design, or media, I excel at distilling a brand's core and crafting strategies to ensure it reaches and resonates with its intended audience.

About Me.
My resume has been labelled as 'unconventional'. It is.
I am grateful for the diversity of experiences this less-linear life has granted me. What better education could there be? Living and working with different cultures, different people from C-suite to children, professional footballers to the military. Every interaction has been a lesson, and yet there is still so much to learn.

These experiences have developed my naturally analytical mind, giving me a truly dynamic perspective. The ability to understand and communicate others' ideas, critically assess insights, and creatively think of solutions and strategies from these makes me an agile communication strategist.

Let me bring a fresh perspective to the table.

Thesis Title_
Pride or Prejudice: An Investigation into the levels of xenophobia in the UK, from 2011 to 2015, with a specific focus on Nigel Farage, The Daily Star and The Daily Telegraph

Summary_
This study investigated the existence of xenophobia in the UK before the referendum on Brexit. This was done through the analysis of speeches made by the UKIP party leader Nigel Farage, alongside media analysis of The Daily Star and The Daily Telegraph between 2011 and 2015. This essay utilised ideas from key thinkers including Carrithers, Fernandez, Gramsci, Anderson and Giddens to help examine these sources. This final project was interdisciplinary and utilised my learnings from Anthropology, political philosophy and economics. In hindsight, it was my first realisation of the power of comms, specifically rhetoric, on thought and in turn actions of the people. Due to the limits of this study, I could not determine a statistically significant correlation.
